About

Jean Bridge is a visual artist whose innovative creative projects have been widely exhibited in Canada and abroad in more than 50 individual and group exhibitions.

Bridge's work is held in many public and private art collections including those of Canada Council Art Bank; University of Toronto Museums; Ottawa Art Gallery; Fornsallen, Visby, Sweden; Kamloops Art Gallery.

In addition to her artwork, Bridge is an art and media educator. She is  retired from Brock University where she taught in the departments of visual art and interactive arts and science.

As a community leader, Bridge was among the founders of nGen (now Innovate Niagara, and Niagara Art Institute of Niagara (RAiN). This charitable organization was created in response to the closure of Rodman Hall Art Centre. RAiN, with Bridge on its board, is developing a new public art museum for Niagara.

IsLand is an unrealized project proposal created in 2024. It envisages a custom-made canvas bag or ‘tote’ of earth with outer embellishment representing the organisms the soil supports.  At eye-level this container offers up an imagined natural landscape in miniature; a commodity contained by our habits of possession.
